American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with three years of recent ICU experience, including neuro or cardiovascular, for a Level 1 trauma center assignment.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the ICU within an acute care hospital, Level 1 Trauma CenterCare setting includes trauma, neuro, surgical, medical, and cardiac ICU units with frequent high-acuity cases32-bed Surgical ICU and 36-bed Medical / Cardiac ICU with 12-bed overflow unitNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 or 1 : 1, depending on acuityCommon patient diagnoses include trauma, neuro-surgery, CVA, post-operative, COVID, sepsis, ARDS, vascular surgeries, DKA, and cardiac proceduresRNs independently interpret their own cardiac strips using GE monitorsCommonly titrated drips include Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, and insulinVentilator management using Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 Bipap, and Airvo equipmentUses Cerner EMR systemSelf-scheduling is available, but shifts may be adjusted for unit needsSchedule is for 12-hour day shifts, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; nights require Friday-Saturday, days require Saturday-Sunday weekendsFloating may be required to tele units (ratio 1 : 3 or 1 : 4) or between all three ICU units; first to float includes potential to float to a nearby sister facilityRNs titrate and manage high-acuity drips and interpret their own cardiac stripsSupport team includes 24 / 7 in-house hospitalist or intensivist and respiratory therapyNo monitor techs or nurse aids on unit; only sitters and health unit secretariesFirst-time travelers are welcomed if they meet experience requirementsOrientation is 1-2 days with pass / fail skills validationExpected to float between all ICU units on campus and to nearby sister facility as neededNavy scrubs are requiredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facilityMay only have one holiday off during the assignmentNo on-call shifts required, but may be low-censused up to three times per contract\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license (no pending licenses considered)Minimum of three years recent ICU RN experience required, including either neuro or cardiovascular casesValid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam (maximum two attempts) prior to acceptancePass / fail skills validation on day one for trauma, neuro, and specialty devicesCopy of driver's license required for considerationMust provide two references : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCannot have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
