Job descriptionPosition is in the ICU within an acute care hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center Care setting includes trauma, neuro, surgical, medical, and cardiac ICU units with frequent high-acuity cases 32-bed Surgical ICU and 36-bed Medical / Cardiac ICU with 12-bed overflow unit Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 or 1 : 1, depending on acuity Common patient diagnoses include trauma, neuro-surgery, CVA, post-operative, COVID, sepsis, ARDS, vascular surgeries, DKA, and cardiac procedures RNs independently interpret their own cardiac strips using GE monitors Commonly titrated drips include Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, and insulin Ventilator management using Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 Bipap, and Airvo equipment Uses Cerner EMR system Self-scheduling is available, but shifts may be adjusted for unit needs Schedule is for 12-hour day shifts, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; nights require Friday-Saturday, days require Saturday-Sunday weekends Floating may be required to tele units (ratio 1 : 3 or 1 : 4) or between all three ICU units; first to float includes potential to float to a nearby sister facility RNs titrate and manage high-acuity drips and interpret their own cardiac strips Support team includes 24 / 7 in-house hospitalist or intensivist and respiratory therapy No monitor techs or nurse aids on unit; only sitters and health unit secretaries First-time travelers are welcomed if they meet experience requirements Orientation is 1-2 days with pass / fail skills validation Expected to float between all ICU units on campus and to nearby sister facility as needed Navy scrubs are required Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility May only have one holiday off during the assignment No on-call shifts required, but may be low-censused up to three times per contract Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license (no pending licenses considered) Minimum of three years recent ICU RN experience required, including either neuro or cardiovascular cases Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (maximum two attempts) prior to acceptance Pass / fail skills validation on day one for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices Copy of driver's license required for consideration Must provide two references : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years Cannot have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
