We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Auburn, Alabama. This contract to hire position offers an exciting opportunity to manage essential accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliations and sales tax reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles to support the company’s financial operations effectively.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Manage sales and use tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Handle journal entries and accruals as part of month-end closing processes.
• Perform reconciliation of financial statements and accounts on a regular basis.
• Assist in the preparation of year-end audits and related financial reporting.
• Utilize QuickBooks and other accounting software to maintain accurate records.
• Conduct financial analyses and reporting to support business decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure streamlined accounting operations.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records and transactions.
• Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and processes.
• Proven experience in sales and use tax management and reporting.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entries, and accruals.
• Demonstrated ability to perform reconciliations and month-end close activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with audit procedures and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms and Avalara is a plus.
• Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables and vlookups.
