Wholesale Underwriting Regional Lead (West Coast) at At-Bay

Job Summary

As the Wholesale Underwriting Lead at At-Bay, you will be a pivotal player in our mission to transform the landscape in specialty lines insurance. You’ll own regional production and profitability goals for your team via our wholesale channel, managing a team of wholesale-focused underwriters and ensuring they meet performance metrics. You will identify, establish and cultivate relationships with national brokerages to effectively distribute our specialized insurance products in higher revenue areas. This role reports to the Head of Wholesale and collaborates cross-functionally with Underwriting, Insurance Operations, Insurance Product, Distribution, and Partnerships on strategic initiatives. You will drive growth, foster collaboration, and enhance our brand presence in the market.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the strategy for profitable growth with new and renewal business in your region for wholesale to achieve profitable premium and rate goals. Partner with our Tech / Cyber product leader, President, Business Development and Retail teams to execute the annual regional business plan and deliver results aligned with portfolio strategy.
  • Deliver excellence in underwriting – at both an individual and regional leadership level.
  • Lead and execute regional and local adaptation of national underwriting, product segment, and broker engagement strategies.
  • Manage, coach, and create a talent pipeline for underwriters within the region.
  • Develop and strengthen institutional relationships with key regional broker partners to achieve revenue objectives and unlock growth opportunities in collaboration with regional Business Development leads.
  • Gather and share market intelligence and pipeline insights to provide strategic analysis and identify priority targets for go-to-market engagement in collaboration with regional Business Development leads.
  • Institutionalize market intelligence and pipeline opportunities to proactively identify key targets for GTM engagement with regional Business Development leads and regional security sales team.
  • Manage and evaluate KPIs to assess individual and team performance across regional, broker management, and underwriting performance.
  • Promote At-Bay’s InsurSec expertise by participating in industry conferences and events and leading client and broker meetings to educate on evolving cyber risk.
  • Serve as a liaison to technology, security, marketing, and data teams to enhance the underwriting process and go-to-market strategy.
  • Demonstrate At-Bay values as a regional leader.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 8-10 years of experience in Cyber and Tech E&O Underwriting including product development or portfolio management.
  • Previous management experience preferred, with a minimum of 3 years in leadership.
  • Experience handling large and complex risk segments.
  • Proven track record of building and nurturing national and local broker partnerships.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lines insurance products and risk management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally, up to 50%.
  • Our estimated base pay range for a VP role is $190,000-$230,000 per year plus performance-based incentives and company equity. Base salary is determined by factors including market data, location, internal equity, domain knowledge, experiences, and skills.
