Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Mental Health Behavior Interventionist to provide ongoing supervision, behavioral, and therapeutic support for children enrolledin theon-site School Based Program. Primary Responsibilities:
- Engage with students daily to establish positive and supportive relationships.
- Provide immediate, therapeutic crisis interventions and one-on-one behavioral support as needed.
- Support students transitioning into other schools within their home districts, providing academic and behavioral support as necessary.
- Identify social and emotional barriers affecting student success and implement intervention plans to address these issues.
- Facilitate social skills and therapeutic groups, including student-led clubs and activities.
- Partnerwith families to teach effective skills for managing behaviors at home and strengthening family-school relationships.
- Conduct family meetings, coordinate outreach efforts, and connect families to additional resources and services.
- Assist in implementing school-wide behavioral expectations and provide coaching to school faculty as needed.
- Maintain detailed and timely documentation of interventions, student progress, and behavioral plans.
- Organize and participate in school activities, including physical education, art, recreation, and field trips.
- Participate in program staff meetings, case consultations, and discharge planning discussions.
- Provide classroom observations and recommendations for individualized student support plans.
- Support the overall operations of the program by assisting with supplies, organizing resources, and ensuring students have access to necessary materials.
Minimum Qualifications:EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health fieldORFouror more year’s relevant experienceORan equivalent combination of education and experienceORapplicants internal to KMHS who have demonstrated competency in the specific required skillsets for the position.Experience working with children within the structure of an intensive, milieu-based program. LICENSURE:Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.Per RCW 28A.400.303, employees of contractors with school districts that “have regularly scheduled unsupervised access to children” must go through FBI fingerprinting.Madrona requires a Food Handler’s Permit, preferred for Sequoia Program and Restorative School.Preferred Qualifications:EXPERIENCE:Intermediate (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)Experience working with the Special Education population is strongly preferred.Educational or classroom management experience preferred.The capacity to work well with children and families.Performance Requirements:KNOWLEDGE:
- Awareness of or working knowledge of Cognitive/Behavioral therapy, Rational/Emotive therapy, behavioral modification, applied behavior analysis, and development theory is strongly preferred.

- Computer skills‑Ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.

Equipment Operated:Standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting is required for extended periods.Mental/Physical Requirements: While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands andfingers,reach with arms, talk, or listen.
