Position Overview
We are seeking a Construction Estimator / Bid Coordinator to support our commercial division. This role will assist with all phases of the bid process—from evaluating project documents and performing takeoffs to coordinating subcontractor quotes and preparing proposal packages. It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual looking to grow into a full estimator role.
You will play a key role in positioning Doggett to win projects in sectors such as multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, and light industrial construction across North and South Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Takeoffs
Review construction drawings and specifications to determine scope of workPerform accurate quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, and accessories using tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and ExcelAssist with pricing based on internal data, subcontractor / vendor input, and historical cost analysisParticipate in pre-bid site visits to assess project conditionsPrepare accurate, competitive estimates that align with company objectivesBid Process Coordination
Manage incoming bid invitations and maintain a well-organized bid calendarPrepare bid packages and documentation, including quotes, pricing sheets, forms, and certificationsEnsure all bids are submitted accurately and on timeTrack submitted bids, results, follow-up activity, and client feedbackSubcontractor & Vendor Coordination
Identify and prequalify subcontractors and suppliersSolicit and evaluate quotes for accuracy, scope coverage, and competitivenessMaintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and general contractorsTeam Collaboration
Collaborate with senior estimators, project managers, and field teams to ensure constructability and accuracySupport seamless handoff from estimating to operations after project awardMaintain clear documentation of assumptions, quantities, and scope detailsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience (minimum 3 years)Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsSolid understanding of concrete construction terminology and methods (slab-on-grade, footings, vertical walls, post-tension systems, etc.)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)Familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or AutoCADStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skillsProfessional, detail-oriented, and team-focused mindsetSkills
Previous experience as a junior estimator or bid coordinator in commercial constructionExperience with bid platforms such as Procore, BuildingConnected, or similarWhat We Offer
