We have an immediate need for a skilled, detail-oriented and organized Patient Billing Advocate for our Ambulatory Surgery Center and Clinic in Austin, TX.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing medical billing processes efficiently while advocating for patients' needs and ensuring their satisfaction with our services.
Responsibilities
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients.
- Prepare and submit paper claims to insurance companies.
- Assist patients in understanding their medical bills, insurance coverage, and financial responsibilities.
- Resolve billing disputes and set-up payment plans when necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to resolve billing and insurance-related issues.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear and empathetic support throughout the billing and payment process.
- Document interactions and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to cross train to cover other positions in the Revenue Cycle department.
- Manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies
- Issue and post bills and provide receipts
- Responsible for processing credit card payments over the phone
- Responsible for answering up to 50 patient calls daily
- Request referrals from PCP for HMO plans
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and billing guidelines to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and always maintain patient confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, values, and strategies of CPIhealth.

Requirements :
- 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Computer proficiency, including keyboarding, Microsoft Office, and ECW or similar Electronic Medical Record platform.
- Knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing software.
- Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
- Basic knowledge of third-party payers such as HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid, and Worker’s Compensation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to advocate for patients' needs and navigate complex healthcare systems.
- Ability to multi-task in fast paced high pressure environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in billing and documentation.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to adapt and transition between assignments quickly.
Schedule : Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm
