The Service Team or Front of House is primarily responsible for administering the 7 steps of Service to every single guest within their assigned job while maintaining guest sensitivity, cleanliness, restocking, sanitation, uniform, safety, security, and company policy requirements. The service team is accountable for leading and delivering Steak N Shake standards in the eyes of the guests. The position has the role but is not limited to cashier, serving, drive-thru operations, and hostess. The Service Team must obtain excellent interpersonal skills and be able to retain menu item information.

Service Team Member - Front of House Roles and Responsibilities :

• Part-time and / or Full-Time Position
• Reports to Operational Supervisor / and or Service Trainer
• Retain menu item information and changes
• Responsible for excellent guest experience
• Maintains policies and procedures
• Passionate about guest service
• Maintains optimal restaurant cleanliness
• Ability to learn and be proficient in all positions of the front house
• Meets basic math and reading requirements
• Ability to lift 20-30Ibs occasionally
• Effectively interact with guests and associates
• Uphold professional relationships with associates and guests while under stress
• Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness

Job Summary :

1. Daily work assignments assigned but not limited to cashier, drive-thru service, serving, hostess

2. Actively ensure service, hospitality, accuracy, and speed

3. Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving

4. Possess communication skills

5. Effectively follow all tasks permanently assigned by the Supervisor to the best of the ability

Steak ‘n Shake was founded in February 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Its founder, Gus Belt, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes.

For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for STEAKBURGER. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped MILK SHAKES. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes. To prove his point that his burgers were exceptionally prime, he would wheel in a barrel of steaks (including round, sirloin, and T-bones) and grind the meat into burgers right before the guests. Hence arose the origin of our famous slogan, “In Sight, It Must Be Right.”

After 85 years, we continue Steak n Shake’s tradition of serving the country’s best, freshest, and tastiest burgers and shakes.
