Scheduling Information :
This position is full-time, with evening 8- or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, including on-call responsibilities. Most call duties are overnight, with around 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots every 8 weeks. Call assignments may vary based on staffing needs, with a requirement to arrive within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and effective surgical area for optimal patient care using aseptic techniques.Prepare surgical materials, supplies, and equipment for various procedures.Set up and ensure the efficiency and safety of the operating room before each case.Assist as a Second Assistant when necessary.Notify staff of any equipment or supply issues promptly.Transport patients and manage equipment as required.Maintain stock and availability of specialty carts and items.Demonstrate ability to care for patients across all age groups, considering their specific needs.Licensure / Certification :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association is required within the first 6 months.Education :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience :
No prior experience required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer skills are essential.Physical Requirements :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and stressful environment.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push / pull with a force of 30 lbs.Must be able to maintain the responsibilities outlined including wearing protective gear and managing various physical tasks.This job description outlines the typical nature and level of work expected.
