Third Shift

You're Alert & On Guard

Are you concerned about the safety and security of those around you? Are you always alert and paying attention to detail? This job requires the ability to stay focused and avoid distractions to ensure the safety of the area you oversee and protect. You will be responsible for walking assigned internal zones of Mission to maintain security. You will monitor entrances and promptly responds to monitor room requests for observed questionable activity.

A person who doesn't get riled easy is a good candidate for this job. You are in frequent close quarters with Mission guests as they enter and exit the building. You must be able to handle disruptions or disputes that might arise, keeping your temper in check and maintaining control of the situation. The right person for this job can't react angrily or violently to those who cause disruptions.

The ideal candidate for this position is willing to take the initiative and do whatever needs to be done to complete the task. You don't mind getting your hands dirty and pitching in to help.

Essential Duties:

• Screens all guests entering walk-through metal detectors by using proper pat-down procedures.
• Maintains order among guests and protects property, visitors, volunteers, and other guests within active zone rotation.
• Diligently monitors security cameras in the monitor room to observe activity on the close circuit camera system, as well as within the immediate vicinity of the Welcome Center, responding to handheld requests for assistance or other service calls, and telephone reception duties.
• Performs telephone reception duties.
• Occasionally supervises Guest Volunteer Program (GVP) in completing housekeeping or other internal jobs.
• Demonstrates good judgment, common sense, follows directions from supervisors.
• Takes charge and directs others in emergencies or other dangerous situations.
• Abides by all Nashville Rescue Mission policies and procedures, giving priority to safety and security procedures.
• Exhibits professional appearance at all times by wearing clean jeans or khakis, Mission shirts and security vests.
• Communicates via two-way radio (walkie-talkie) and/or telephone to a variety of first responders (Police, EMTs, and ambulance) as needed.
• Assists front desk staff in storing guest luggage, clearing lockers, directing guests to appropriate assistance.
• Assists in issuance of short-term guest parking permits.
• Walks or drives assigned external zones on predetermined schedules to maintain the security of the parking lot and Mission property/perimeter. Promptly responds to requests to check on observed questionable activity.
• Walks assigned internal zones of Mission to maintain security, monitors Welcome Center entrances, and promptly responds to requests for observed questionable activity.
• Keeps exits and entrances clear and maintains lock down areas as specified.
• Maintains an orderly, clean and safe work environment with the Guest Services work area.
• Aligns motives, values and beliefs with Nashville Rescue Mission's values.
• Works as a team player and recognizing that his/her actions directly impact the hospitable performance and reputation of Nashville Rescue Mission and Nashville Rescue Mission's Statement of Faith.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Other Duties:

• Performs regular duties associated with guest database.
• Performs all other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

• Completion of high school (diploma or equivalent) preferred.
• Equivalent education or experience in job related activities may be substituted for education.
• Recognized correctional institution, and/or security guard certification and associates licensures, including but not limited to restraint and crowd control will be a major plus.
• TN driver's license with clean record would be desirable.
• Working knowledge of computer guest registration processes and ability to perform those duty duties in different locations as guest volume and Nashville Rescue Mission's activities may require.
• Have and maintain valid and current certifications for certain skills such as: Crisis Prevention, first aid, CPR, and Narcan. Nashville Rescue Mission will provide certifications.
