Minimum Education:
Master's degree in TESOL, English, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics OR
Master's degree and 18 graduate credits hours in TESOL, English, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics
Demonstrated competencies in teaching EAP/ESL/TESOL
Minimum Experience/Training:
Faculty will teach English as a second language (ESL) courses in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program. Faculty members utilize expertise in foreign language instruction, curriculum/materials design, and language proficiency assessment to teach all linguistic modalities: listening/speaking, reading, grammar, and writing in a student-centered, communicative language learning environment that is focused on learner outcomes. Faculty are expected to be able to integrate instructional technology in the classroom and in homework assignments in order to enhance instruction, extend teaching/learning opportunities beyond the classroom, and to prepare learners for the academic rigors of general college and university settings. Faculty complete administrative tasks with attention to detail and deadlines; administrative tasks require comfort with word processing/spreadsheets, the use of a web-based HR portal (Workday), and accessing curricular content on the Broward College intranet (SharePoint). Faculty actively participate in an EAP community of practice, sharing in and contributing to a congenial and innovative second language acquisition environment.
