Position Overview
As a Prep Cook at Postcard, your role is to support the guest experience by preparing ingredients and assembling dishes. You’ll ensure everything is ready for service, maintain cleanliness and organization, and follow food safety standards. This role requires someone who can work efficiently in a small space and help keep the flow of service smooth.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare ingredients for daily service, including washing, chopping, slicing, measuring, and portioning in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assemble and plate menu items consistently according to Postcard’s recipes, presentation guidelines, and quality control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen workspace, following local health department regulations and company hygiene protocols.
- Support kitchen operations during peak periods by working efficiently and communicating clearly with the back-of-house and front-of-house teams.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, rotating stock, labeling ingredients, and maintaining accurate inventory counts in accordance with FIFO practices.
- Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and harassment-free team environment, following all company policies, including anti-discrimination and workplace safety guidelines.
- Fulfill physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, and participating in opening / closing procedures and light janitorial tasks as needed.
What We’re Looking For
2-3+ years of experience in kitchens or food prep (cafés or independent restaurants a plus)A solid understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standardsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced, small-team environmentStrong attention to detail and a good sense of timing in food prep and serviceA positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to support the greater teamFlexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidaysAbility to lift and carry up to 25 lbsFood Handler Certification (required)Why Join Us?
