This role reports oversees the payroll team, and the full payroll cycle, audits, Workday maintenance, and payroll compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Oversees the integrity of all payroll data into the HRIS and Payroll systems.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Manages the processing of multiple payrolls on a semi-monthly basis, which may include reviewing timecards for accuracy, creating and preparing payroll spreadsheets, compiling data, processing special requests and changes to employee information, auditing batch information, and ensuring timely execution and certification of data for processing.
- Ensures compliance with both internal payroll policies and external government requirements.
- Provides Accounting and Finance departments with timely and accurate general ledger interfaces, journal entries, and various month-end reports necessary to correctly allocate earnings to the proper departments.
- Leads Payroll projects, such as acquisition implementation.
- Works with HR team and corporate legal department to handle HR compliance matters, including but not limited to 401k non-discrimination testing and annual audit, New York Insurance Fund Payroll Report, EEO-1 reporting, paid time off (PTO) accruals and deductions, worker’s compensation audits and annual insurance renewals.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures.
- Tracks worker’s compensation premium accruals and ensure correct classification and rate codes are applied to each employee.
Manages yearly worker’s comp audit.
- Oversees payroll year-end processes such as payroll adjustments, out of sequence payrolls, ACA reporting oversight, and the reconciliation and distribution of W-2 statements.
- Manages special filings such as Ohio workers compensation calculations and NV quarterly Modified Business Tax Return.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years processing full-cycle payroll from new hire set up through payroll submission, as well as working knowledge of payroll audit procedures, multi-state payroll tax laws.
- Solid understanding of employment law, regulatory, and legal compliance practices.
- Strong working knowledge of Workday software
- Four years of experience in payroll processing required with two years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- Experience with acquisitions, HRIS / Payroll implementations, migrations and new account set ups.
- Knowledge of Canada payroll and regulations.
