Job Summary

Under the direction of the department manager, the role of the Hospital Unit Supervisor position is to provide immediate supervision of the Hospital Unit Service Coordinator Ills and other administrative, para-technical, and volunteer staff as assigned. This position is responsible for oversight and supervision of day-to-day operations and general administrative support.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position

  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR within 3 months of employment and maintain current thereafter
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent combination of such experience and training
  • Supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of such education and experience.
  • Work experience in a transplant and / or pulmonary HTN unit.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience conducting group and individual training sessions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Skills to supervise an administrative and / or para-technical team and to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Supervisory skills related to recruitment, organizing, scheduling, and assigning work, training and evaluating work performance, implementing counseling, discipline and corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care support activities, systems, external regulations. and internal policies.
  • Knowledge of Fair Labor Practices, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated analytical experience with the ability to identify, analyze, report and resolve problems accurately and timely.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources maters and employee performance.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.
  • Knowledge and ability to exercise discretion, use good judgment and maintain confidentiality

  • Strong computer skills including EMR, ANSOS, EcoTime, Aggie Service, e-mail, electronic calendaring systems, and MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex clinical and technical information In a clear and concise manner, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses
  • Experience preparing reports, memorandums and documents.
  • Ability to maintain a culture that values diversity, respect and accepts the contribution of others, and supports open communication
  • Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
  • Organizational skills to provide direct supervision to licensed and unlicensed employees
  • Ability to appropriately use available resources (personnel and equipment / supplies) to ensure that the patients on a specific unit receive safe, appropriate patient care during the course of a shift.
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees, promoting teamwork and encouraging professional development.

    Tower 8 Transplant-Metabolic Unit is a 28-bed acute care unit. The unit provides advanced assessment and specialized care for patients undergoing solid organ transplant (kidney, liver, pediatric kidney). Additionally, care is provided for telemetry, pulmonary hypertension, urologic surgery, oncology and a wide variety of medical-surgical patients.
