Job descriptionUnderstand audience segments and user expectations Identify gaps, redundancy, or complexity in existing web content through a comprehensive audit of specific sections of a website Work with limited subject matter expert interaction, anticipating prospective revision requests and updates Optimize content for search engine optimization, comprehension, plain language, and readability Develop strategies for conveying complex content to audiences in a simple, logical, and easily understandable way that resonates with users Collaborate with other members of the web team to identify content performance, including popular or underperforming messaging Use analytics data to create new content, as needed, to address needs Be the expert on improving messaging, addressing user needs, and defining consistent tone and style across all content 5 or more years of experience as a writer, content manager, strategic communications specialist, or similar in a government environment Expert knowledge of AP Style and application of established branding standards Demonstrated experience interfacing with government stakeholders and balancing competing priorities Demonstrated knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG Compliance Experience developing content to support user journeys Experience with legacy content management systems used by the government Develop solutions to constraints and changing priorities Bachelor's degree (or higher) in communications, writing, public affairs, or similar Basic understanding of personnel / industrial security or background investigation Experience with AFPIMS Medical insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Tuition assistance Disability insurance

$100,000.00 / yr - $135,000.00 / yr

The Content Manager & Web Communications Specialist supports a team tasked with improving a government website by implementing a content strategy, applying plain language best practices, and developing audience-specific messaging.
An ideal candidate is experienced in conveying complex concepts to multiple user segments, in writing, within the constraints of legacy content management systems – such as AFPIMS (American Forces Public Information Management System).
