Position Summary :

The BiomedicalEngineering Department (BME) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank ofAssistant / Associate Professor beginning the 24-25 academic year.

Researchspecialties of interest include nervous system injury (including traumaticbrain injury, computational and experimental biomechanics, and tissueengineering), neuromuscular biomechanics (including 3-D motion capture, imagingand function, and computational simulation) and rehabilitation engineering(including exoskeletons and other assistive devices, virtual reality, andtelemedicine).

The department consistsof 17 tenured and tenure track faculty members and serves over 450 students inan ABET accredited program.

Essential Functions :

Candidates areexpected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Biomedical Engineering;conduct research; and provide service to the department, college, universityand the profession.

They should participate in student advising and programsupport.

Additional Functions :

Assistance withrecruiting of new faculty and graduate students; outreach activities to otheruniversities and professional associations.

Prerequisite Qualifications :

• A Ph.D / D.Scdegree in biomedical engineering or closely related field. High quality scholarly achievements and acommitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.
• Holders ofthis faculty position are expected to generate a significant externally-fundedresearch program in their areas of specialization.
• At the university's discretion,the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidatecan demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalentcombination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidatefor success in the position.
