Job Description

  • The Business Development Specialist will play a key role in driving revenue growth through lead generation, market research, and relationship building within the construction and heavy-equipment sectors. This individual will identify project opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and support the sales team in expanding JJ Curran Crane’s footprint across Michigan and surrounding markets.

Responsibilities

Market Research & Lead Generation

  • Research and identify upcoming construction, infrastructure, and industrial projects in Michigan.
  • Monitor project databases, public bids, and general contractor updates to generate qualified leads.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities across target sectors (commercial, infrastructure, industrial, civic).
  • Relationship Development

  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and site managers.
  • Represent JJ Curran Crane at networking events, and pre-bid meetings.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to support proposal development and client presentations.
  • Sales Support & CRM Management

  • Input, track, and maintain accurate data in the company’s CRM
  • Coordinate with the operations team to ensure alignment on equipment availability, pricing, and scheduling.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials, case studies, and client communications that highlight JJ Curran Crane’s capabilities and project successes.
  • Strategic Growth

  • Identify emerging markets and service opportunities within the Michigan construction ecosystem.
  • Provide data-driven insights on competitor activity, pricing trends, and customer demand.
  • Support leadership with strategic account planning and quarterly growth objectives.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 2–5 years of experience in business development, construction sales, or equipment rental.
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan’s construction and industrial market preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • CRM experience
  • Self-starter with a results-driven mindset and attention to detail.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting at $60,000 salary plus performance-based commission.
