American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a nights Cardiac Telemetry (PCU / Stepdown) position requiring a CA RN license and competency in EKG interpretation.

Responsibilities

Work in an acute care PCU / Stepdown unit specializing in cardiac telemetry patients35-bed unit with patient ratios of 1 : 3-4Common patient needs include post-CABG with pacer wires and chest tubes, temporary and transvenous pacers, arrhythmias, CHF, and titration of multiple drips including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirementFirst to float to other Sacramento facilities, with rare mid-shift floatsUses Cerner EMR systemBedside report at 6 : 45pm; self-scheduling available but finalized by managementScrub color requirement is navy blue for all visible garments; navy, white, or black undershirts allowed; navy jackets optionalCare for complex cardiac stepdown patients in a fast-paced environment with a multidisciplinary teamCharge nurse generally available for support and break relief without patient assignmentNurse aides and 24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support provided as neededMust be flexible and demonstrate strong time management skillsTravelers are expected to work two out of three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) alongside core staffOrientation includes 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptorCandidates must not have been employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year; prior PRN through an outside firm is acceptableIf Relias or sterile technique tests are failed twice, candidate is ineligible to work at CommonSpirit Sacramento region or Arizona for six monthsLVAD patients are present but travelers do not take LVAD cases\n \n

Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; compact or pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a stepdown or cardiac telemetry settingCertifications needed : ACLS, BLS, NIHSSAbility to read and interpret EKG strips accuratelyMust provide two professional references : one supervisor within the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibilityCompletion of Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to offer; test is pass / fail with two attempts allowedPassing sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation\n
