This position offers exciting opportunities to float across multiple departments caring for diverse and complex patient populations in both general and intermediate care settings.

In this role, you will provide exceptional, evidence-based nursing care by actively assessing patient needs, recognizing early signs of complications, and implementing appropriate interventions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, advanced practice providers, and medical teams—to ensure holistic, patient-centered care. The position also offers opportunities for mentorship, precepting new nurses and students, and involvement in quality improvement initiatives and Shared Governance.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care across various Med Surg and Telemetry units, adapting to the unique needs of each patient population\nMaintain critical thinking skills to assess patient conditions, recognize complications promptly, and escalate concerns as necessary\nAdminister medications, treatments, and interventions aligned with evidenced-based practices\nPartner effectively with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes\nServe as a mentor and role model, fostering a collaborative and educational environment for new staff and students\nParticipate in quality improvement, strategic planning, and shared governance efforts\n\n\n
What You Bring
\n \n
Proven experience in acute care, specifically within different Med Surg units (cardiac, spine, neuro)\nExperience with floating between units and working within a variety of clinical settings is highly preferred\nAt least two years of recent (within last 3 years) acute care nursing experience\nEpic EMR system experience; proficiency within the last 12 months is preferred\nStrong clinical skills in telemetry, including basic arrhythmia recognition and management\nAbility to pass a telemetry competency test prior to onboarding\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care\nFlexibility to work variable shifts and weekends, with a commitment to providing dependable care\n\n\n
Preferred Education & Experience
\n \n
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure in Wisconsin or a valid compact license\nBaccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred but not mandatory\nPrior experience in high-acuity settings, such as ICU or step-down units, is advantageous\nDemonstrated proficiency in Epic EMR documentation and workflows\nExperience in teaching or mentoring new nurses and students is a plus\n\n\n

The traveling nurse must reside at least 50 miles from the facility unless otherwise specified\nShifts are scheduled for 11 : 00 AM to 11 : 00 PM, with a three-day workweek providing a great work-life balance\nThe contract is set for 13 months, with the scheduled end date of June 4, 2026\nParking permits are required through UW Transportation; alternative transportation options are available\n\n\n
