About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Shift : Nights with varied start times between 3 PM - 7 PM, every other weekend

Hours per Shift : 12 hours, guaranteed 36 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 2 years, trauma experience preferred

License : Valid RN license required

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS

Must-Have :

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Trauma experience preferred
• Willingness to work with first-time travelers

Description :

The emergency room has a total of 24 beds and no trauma bays.

There is a fast track area that runs out of a separate location, typically designated for travelers in the main ER.

A private room is available for patients as needed based on behavior, with an overflow room for up to four patients.

The unit sees approximately 250 visits per day with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2 : 1 to 4 : 1.

Charge nurses do not take patients, and there are ER techs available to assist with technical duties.

Security and patient sitters are also provided by ER techs.

Every other weekend is required, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday counted as the weekend.

Holiday shifts will be scheduled into the permanent staff rotation, with increased demand on holidays.

Nurses wear blue scrubs, while techs wear green.

The facility is equipped with 22 hardwired monitors, and respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7.

Lab draws are performed by phlebotomists, except for central lines, and there is no IV team.

The emergency department has both MDs and mid-level providers on staff.

Common diagnoses include STEMI, cardiac issues, sepsis, ETOH, stroke, and DKA.

Patient care is divided into three categories : fast track, treat and anticipate disposition, and acute care.

Note : There is no inpatient pediatric or behavioral health unit.

Cancellation policy allows for the cancellation of up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment and three shifts for shorter assignments.

This position involves working in an acute care setting with 12-hour shifts.

Shifts can vary between 6 : 45 AM - 7 : 15 PM and from early afternoon to evening as listed.

Flexibility is required for scheduling purposes.

No floating to other units will be necessary.
