Quarantine Barn Operations Manager
The Quarantine Barn Operations Manager will direct the operation and utilization of the quarantine barn facilities, consisting of three barns that accommodate horses shipping internationally in and out of Kentucky.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities :
- Create and implement operating plans, policies and procedures to ensure the successful operation of the Quarantine Barns.
- Communicate and coordinate with the USDA regarding regulations to ensure proper compliance.
- Keep quarantine barns clean, disinfected and stocked with supplies and equipment.
- Order bedding and feed as needed for horses in quarantine.
- Hire and manage a seasonal staff to take care of horses while in the quarantine barns.
- Coordinate general maintenance and upkeep requirements with Backside Maintenance department.
- Communicate and coordinate with shipping companies on arrival of horses.
- Responsible for the operating budget related to quarantine operations.
- Coordinate with international racing participants on matters related to quarantine operations for Kentucky Derby week participation.
- Coordinate with Breeders' Cup officials on matters related to quarantine operations when Churchill Downs is host track for the Breeders' Cup World Championships.
- Work with security, as necessary, to ensure proper security coverage for the barns when horses are stabled in the facility.
- Develop a sales plan to maximize the occupancy of the Quarantine Barns in order to drive revenue growth and to cover the operating expenses of the facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This position will oversee all quarantine barn staff.This position will be a full-time position. The individual will be required to work on some weekends and holidays and other days during the week as needed to fulfill their duties and responsibilities. Salary will be determined by experience. Quarantine Barn Operations Manager reports to Senior Director of Stable Area.Required Skills And Abilities :
The Quarantine manager will be required to have a minimum of 5 years' experience in equine industry.Demonstrated ability in leadership and communication.A strong foundation in principles of business management, including delivery of strategic direction and implementation of all business operations and financial policies, practices, and procedures.Computer skills including but not limited to : Microsoft Office Suite / Proficiency in programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Email communication : Professional email correspondence, using Outlook and Microsoft Teams.Data entry : Accurately entering data into software or databases.File management and record keeping : Organizing files and folders, creating directories, and managing different file formats.Physical Requirements & Working Conditions :
