Specialist, Packaging And Quality
The Specialist, Packaging and Quality is responsible for maintaining parts packaging standards, ensuring logistics quality, and monitoring costs associated with all inbound and outbound logistics activities for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S. (MTMUS) production operations in collaboration with management. This role is responsible for operational processes aligned with the project launch master schedule, ensuring adherence to Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets. It also supports MTMUS production planning by rapidly adapting to schedule changes to meet evolving customer demands. Working closely with management throughout the product lifecycle from initial planning through mass production, this role ensures seamless packaging integration and drives continuous improvement in logistics performance.
Major Responsibilities
- (60%) Packaging Specifications & System Management
- Collaborate with Logistics Manager and team leads to develop procedures for supplier packaging and returnable materials, ensuring alignment with QCD standards.
- Monitor packaging warehouse and supplier readiness status to ensure timely execution of all packaging processes.
- Generate packaging concept proposals based on logistics processes and efficiency goals; ensure supplier compliance with design by participating in prototype reviews to verify adherence to standards.
- Evaluate supplier packaging proposals and provide feedback for improvement. Establish packaging specifications for new parts; monitor and execute updates based on supply chain changes.
- Create and maintain input and output parts and packaging data in internal systems to support accurate ordering and logistics operations.
- (10%) Cost & Logistics Performance Management
- Analyze and prepare financial reports and monitor packaging / logistics budgets.
- Support the development of processes to identify logistics issues (e.g., packaging, customs, claims) and monitor centralized logistics cost management.
- Develop and report countermeasures in response to cost or operational issues.
- Analyze daily operational output to identify root causes and areas for improvement.
- Monitor logistics cost trends and predict future impacts based on production schedules and project timelines.
- (10%) Compliance & KPI Monitoring
- Report operational processes to ensure legal, regulatory, and safety compliance.
- Work with the Logistics Manager to establish and track KPIs related to QCD performance.
Review operations and assist in developing strategies to meet KPI targets.
(20%) Administrative ResponsibilitiesReview contracts and pricing with the Logistics Manager and legal team to ensure alignment with operational plans.Review purchases and contractor payments with the Logistics Manager.Input and maintain data in logistics systems to ensure compliance and record integrity.Assist with annual financial audits and resolution tracking as needed.Performs other duties as assigned

Work Experience
2+ years experience in business management or systems management required2+ years logistics, packaging or related field preferred1+ year experience with data tracking tools (e.g., Power BI) and system management platforms (e.g., VPACS) preferred1+ year IT support experience within the automotive / OEM industry preferredRequired Education
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, logistics or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and / or work experience in lieu of degreeLicenses
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferredKnowledge and Abilities
Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as the ability to learn and effectively utilize other software applications used within the Company.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey ideas and adapt messaging to different audiences.Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of packaging practices, logistics principles, and supply chain integration.Physical Demands

Pay Range $59,300.00 - $86,000.00
Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
