Overview
Media Operator position at Howmet Aerospace, Wichita Falls, TX. The role supports finishing of castings using vibratory bowls or high energy finishers, under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Checks all bowls for proper stone selections and levels.
- Checks all bowls for proper water flow and compound mixture.
- Verifies casting and routing card information.
- Selects proper fixture if applicable.
- Places correct number of castings in bowl or barrels and processes correct length of time.
- Unloads castings from bowl or barrel and places them in the proper storage container after a cycle.
- Washes and rinses castings that require it and ensures parts processed in high energy equipment are cleaned.
- Inspects for lodged stones when removing parts and removes as needed.
- Keeps media screens and trench screens clean at end of shift.
- Operates independently with good judgment on when to add stones to media bowl to maintain proper levels; monitors compound and water flow.
- Notifies supervision when supplies are needed (stones, compound, etc.).
- Keeps stones screened, sorted and stored neatly in media area.
- Identifies unusual noises, oil or water leaks, shuts down the unit if necessary and notifies supervisor.
- Maintains a clean area, machines and drains at all times.
- Washes down stones at end of shift by flushing with fresh water after cutting off the compound metering unit.
- Performs semi-routine duties as required.
- Follows all EHS rules relevant to the work environment.
- Works overtime when needed.

Training : Three to six months on-the-job training required for satisfactory job proficiency. Training folder.Equipment Used : Filter Press, Media Bowls, Media Time Saver, Profilometer.Work Environment : Exposure to noise, heat, cold, wet conditions; exposure to nickel.Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.Legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.)Access to export-controlled items; employment offers conditioned upon ability to lawfully obtain access.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
