POSITION SUMMARY

Work in cooperation with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide clinical support with the Orthotics and Prosthetics division. Measure and fit devices, known as orthoses, to provide care to patients who have disabling conditions of the limbs and spine. Manage inventory to include DMEPOS, medications, and medical supplies through use of appropriate software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide care to patients with disabling conditions of limbs and spine by fitting and preparing orthopedic braces, under the direction of and in consultation with physician
  • Examine and evaluates patient's needs in relation to disease and functional loss
  • Formulate design of orthopedic brace and DMEPOS items
  • Evaluate brace on patient and adjust to assure fit, function, and quality of work
  • Instruct patient in use of orthopedic brace and DMEPOS items
  • Maintain inventory for DMEPOS, medications, and medical supplies
  • Manage CPO’s schedules for custom DME services in Tallahassee and Regional offices
  • Obtain authorizations for custom DME services
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as deemed appropriate

GENERAL COMPENTENCIES DESIRED

  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy
  • Strong sense of aesthetics with good hand / eye coordination and precision
  • Knowledge of DMEPOS
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Inventory
  • Knowledge of patient flow and TOC’s physician specialties
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Excel and other MS Office programs
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal visual acuity. Must be able to push carts containing medical and athletic equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to walk long distances. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate and give adequate directions and instructions. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.

    CREDENTIALS DESIRED

    Credentials determine an individual’s Scope of Practice and influence tasks designated to clinical support.

  • Certified – Medical Assistant
  • Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed in Florida (or eligible)
  • Position is full-time. Position is located in Tallahassee, FL.
