Your Opportunity :

This position is a full-time, in person position reporting to the Marketing and Operations Director. As the Data Engineer , you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and solutions.

You will work closely with our data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure seamless data integration, processing, and delivery to drive insights and innovation within MyBambu.

Responsibilities :

• Design and develop scalable and efficient data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, develop data models, and implement data solutions that align with MyBambu goals.
• Build and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications.
• Implement data quality checks, data governance, and security measures to ensure data integrity, compliance, and privacy.
• Work on data transformation, enrichment, and aggregation tasks using tools and technologies such as SQL, Python, Spark, and Hadoop.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, performance issues, and data anomalies to ensure reliability and availability of data services.
• Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data engineering and fintech to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities :

• Data Engineering : Proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and architectures to support data integration, processing, and storage.
• Programming Languages : Strong skills in programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, or Scala for data manipulation, transformation, and analysis.
• Big Data Technologies : Hands-on experience with big data technologies and frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive, or similar tools for handling large volumes of data.
• Data Modeling : Ability to create and maintain data models, schemas, and structures to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and querying.
• ETL Processes : Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools for data extraction, transformation, and loading into data warehouses or data lakes.
• Cloud Platforms : Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying and managing data solutions, infrastructure, and services.
• Data Governance : Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, data security, and compliance standards to ensure data integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Analytics and Reporting : Understanding of data analytics, reporting tools, and techniques for deriving insights, visualizations, and business intelligence from data sets.
• Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot data issues, optimize performance, and resolve technical challenges in data engineering projects.
• Communication and Collaboration : Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and business users to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business objectives.
• Agile Methodologies : Experience working in agile environments, participating in sprint planning, and delivering data engineering tasks iteratively and collaboratively.

Job Requirements :

• Bilingual - (English & Spanish), preferred.
• Have two to four (2-4) years of expertise developing cloud-based data warehousing technology.
• Five (5) years of Data Warehousing / Data Modeling and Big Data Experience.
• Five (5) years in a pivotal Software / Data Engineering role, with deep exposure to modern data stacks, particularly Snowflake, Airflow or Prefect, dbt, and AWS data services.
• Expertise in applying Python and SQL to execute complex data operations, customize ETL / ELT processes, and perform advanced data transformations across the platform.

Physical Requirements :

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
