Sanitation Supervisor 3rd Shift
Producing high-quality products for our customers and consumers to enjoy starts with immaculate facilities. As a member of Johnsonville's sanitation team, you'll ensure all our facilities are cleaned in accordance with strict procedures to meet or exceed our high sanitation and food-safety standards. Working with chemicals, hoses, lifts and other equipment, you'll ensure our facilities are ready for the next shift of production.
The team leader will perform as a proactive, "change agent" in the facility and provide support and direction to members of the team. The team leader will be expected to lead, motivate, and facilitate learning for members to achieve productivity results, improve individual skills, and enhance teamwork. They will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and sanitation requirements, function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations, and work towards continuous improvements within the department and facility. They will also lead actions for assigned duties and establish and sustain effective relationships with all members in order to foster an environment where innovation, cooperation and ownership are used to solve problems.
Responsibilities include : coaching, leading and developing a team of members to consistently deliver great performance; leading, developing and initiating process improvement efforts; conducting and leading effective pre-shift meetings; monitoring and ensuring timely completion of master sanitation schedule; ensuring sanitation and food safety specifications are met; training and coaching members on those processes; ensuring appropriate coaches / members are kept informed of problems / issues that may affect their process; effectively communicating with all departments and members; managing the execution of the 7 steps of sanitation, meeting Johnsonville's and USDA's standards of acceptability; conducting environmental and bioluminescence swabbing; completing sanitation documentation paperwork accurately; proper set up and teardown knowledge of equipment within finished goods / harvest; in depth knowledge of equipment functions and the ability to assist in troubleshooting; identifying and resolving potential problems and niche points; ability to create and implement new processes and procedures.
Education : associate degree or bachelor degree is required for outside candidates. Internal candidates who do not have a high school diploma or advanced degree may be considered.
Experience : two years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, highly preferred. Basic sanitation experience preferred.
Skills and competencies include : sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP's); ability to identify critical control points (CCPs) in area of responsibility and maintain all good manufacturing practices (GMPs); demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and efficiently; strong ability to make decisions with limited resources; strong interpersonal skills; being a role model to all members; dependability, honesty and proactiveness; strong written and verbal communication skills required; strong math background is required; comply with GMPs and safety rules at all times; ability to become certified in chemical usage; bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
Physical demands include : ability to work at heights that are above ground level; ability to lift, carry, push and pull up 50 lbs, and hand grip up to 60 lbs on a regular basis; ability to work in cold and wet conditions; ability to hold a hose for an extended period of time.
Other requirements include : must be at least 18 years old; ability to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen, physical and background check.
