I. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY :
Under direct supervision, assists in the preparation of hot and cold foods for patients, employees, staff and visitors in accordance with established recipes and menus. Measures and mixes food ingredients; using grills, kitchen utensils and other equipment.
Education
6 months of vocational training in cooking techniques and methods.
Experience
1-year experience as a cook in order to be familiar with production cooking techniques and standard recipes.
Skills
·Skill in oral communication.
·Skill in data analysis and interpretation
·Ability to work well under time constraints and to work effectively as a team member.
·Ability to read and write, understand and follow written and verbal instructions and perform noncomplex mathematical calculations.
Licensures, Certifications
Physical Requirements
·Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 30% of work time.
·Ability to stand for majority of work time and to bend, lift, pull and push weights of up to forty-five pounds (45 lbs.) for up to twenty percent (20%) of work time.
Working Conditions
·Normal kitchen environment with frequent (up to eighty percent of work time) exposure to disagreeable temperatures and high noise levels.
·Occasional (up to twenty percent of work time) exposure to hazards such as cuts, burns and bruises due to working with kitchen utensils (including knives) and equipment.
