Start Date :  ASAP

Shift : 3x12s – Nights

Location : Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Setting : Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC)

License : Active WI RN License

Certifications : BLS required

Duration : 13 weeks

Position Summary :

We’re seeking an experienced Travel RN for a Long-Term Acute Care facility in Milwaukee, WI . This RN will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality patient care through the nursing process, supervising LPNs, CNAs, and other support staff as needed.

This is a night shift role, ideal for nurses who thrive in a clinically complex environment and are committed to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities :

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to guide individualized care plans.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and re-evaluation conferences with updated patient status.

Provide direct care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).

Educate patients and families to support safe discharge planning, starting on the day of admission.

Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner.

Ensure communication of significant changes in patient status across the care team, including physicians and charge nurses.

Delegate appropriately and provide leadership and supervision to ancillary nursing staff.

Maintain a safe patient care environment by adhering to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies.

Actively participate in unit operations, problem solving, and team-building efforts.

Monitor supply usage and participate in cost-effective care delivery.

Assume charge nurse responsibilities when required after appropriate orientation.

Pursue ongoing professional development through education, self-study, and in-service training.

Preferred Qualifications :

1–2 years of recent experience in an LTAC, acute care, or step-down setting

Experience supervising support staff and working as part of an interdisciplinary team

Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient advocacy skills

Familiarity with discharge planning and patient / family education

EMR experience preferred
