Job description

Starting Salary : $55,000 - $65,000

Travel Requirement : This position requires travel 85% - 90% of the time throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.

We are a fast-paced, growing construction company that delivers safety, quality, and on-time work, specializing in heavy civil construction, including earthwork, concrete work, steel erection, and more. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and possess a working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to assigned projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage project controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting, and job costing.
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules to ensure work is completed on time and under budget.
  • Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and costs accruals.
  • Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents.
  • Process / manage material deliveries, ensuring that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality.
  • Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in representing the company or project during client and project management meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen, and Crews).

Additional Job Functions :

  • Research, organization, and planning of assigned projects.
  • Ability to work on different sites in various states.
  • Work closely with leadership to maintain efficient tracking / monitoring of projects.
  • Comply with and support Spencer Construction safety initiatives.
  • Team player with a willingness to abide by Spencer Construction policies and handbook.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
  • Required Skills and Abilities :

  • At least 1 year of experience in construction engineering, field support, or a similar position.
  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration (Accounting, Management, or Finance), Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent job experience.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with staff and external clients / contractors.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and construction-specific software.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and managing time effectively.
  • Preferred Skills and Abilities :

  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, and standards.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
  • Experience budgeting projects and managing costs.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment :

    This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, read printed materials, and maintain attention despite interruptions. The role may require lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, handling, or feeling objects weighing up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs and / or ladders, and working outside in various weather conditions.
