Solid Waste Assistant Superintendent
The purpose of this position is to assist with the supervision and direction of Solid Waste collections within the Solid Waste Division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting and reviewing performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Oversees and ensures compliance to OSHA safety regulations, state and federal laws / policies, and City policies / ordinances.
- Actively participates with the safety committee and maintains safety / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for department.
- Assists in the recommendation of new hires.
- Recommends disciplinary actions, promotions, and the authorization of leave time to the Superintendent.
- Assists the Administration Manager with related operational objectives.
- Assists Administration in maintaining mobile work order systems and other applicable software related to collections.
- Makes recommendations to Superintendent on equipment and departmental needs.
- Directs the development and training of supervisors and entry level staff.
- Ensures that the monthly safety training contains relevant and applicable topics.
- Presents departmental data and other relevant statics and information to the Superintendent via reports, memos and / or presentations.

Valid North Carolina Class B Driver's License or abovePLEASE NOTE : Applicants must meet the City's criteria for an acceptable driving record.

Education / Experience :
