A well-established and rapidly growing educational institution in South Florida is seeking an experienced
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
to lead its centralized finance operations. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven institution at a pivotal moment in its growth trajectory. The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership while maintaining a hands-on approach, overseeing a finance team and ensuring fiscal responsibility across all operations. The ideal candidate will bring both financial expertise and the interpersonal skills needed to bridge the gap between finance and education, working collaboratively with academic leadership and educators who may not have financial backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Provide comprehensive financial oversight for a multi-division educational institution with centralized finance operations
Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Executive Board
Develop annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts to support institutional growth
Conduct cash flow analysis and maintain financial sustainability
Support the institution's campus expansion and real-estate portfolio management
Team Leadership & Operations Management
Oversee centralized finance office managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, grants accounting, and tuition collections
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals
Foster a collaborative, high-performing finance culture with both strategic vision and attention to operational detail
Systems & Process Improvement
Champion the continued implementation and optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across finance operations
Navigate and strengthen systems during a period of finance team evolution
Cross-Functional Partnership
Translate complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders, particularly educators and academic administrators
Partner with division leaders (early childhood, elementary, high school) to support their budget management
Help educators understand and operate effectively within their allocated budgets
Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior financial leader in a nonprofit school or educational institution
Demonstrated leadership capability with willingness to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance professionals
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators and academic leadership
Humility and collaborative mindset—able to listen, adapt, and work within an established institutional culture and leadership structure
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Strong technical expertise in budgeting and financial forecasting; cash flow analysis and management; financial reporting and board-level presentations; oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, controller functions, grants / general ledger accounting, and tuition / collections operations

Salary Range : $150,000 - $200,000+ annually
