Finance Business Partner, Manager (GL)

Department Summary

MITRE’s Finance organization is seeking a Manager to serve as a lead business partner. As the Finance Business Partner, you will serve as the primary source of day‑to‑day financial management and business decision support, playing a key part in the business operations functions that maximize MITRE’s value to our government sponsors. The Finance Manager is also a direct manager and developer of people, responsible for positioning the team to positively impact across and within the broader finance communities. Additionally, this Finance Manager will take responsibility for special projects with impact across MITRE Finance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• The Finance Manager will serve as the trusted business partner and line level‑CFO for a center within MITRE, including being the single point of contact for Finance to that customer.
• They will be the “command and control” lead for Finance functions supporting these organizations, keeping a broad awareness of issues with program finance, invoicing, operations, and contracts affecting the customer.
• They are expected to develop a reputation as the chief problem solver for their customers, helping them to work through complex issues throughout the Finance organization, or even center‑level operations issues with financial drivers or outcomes.
• They build and maintain a positive relationship with customer stakeholders, prioritizing good financial outcomes for the customer and for MITRE.
• They ensure strong operating financial controls and adherence to MITRE Finance policies within the customer organization.
• They work with customers and other business partners to drive long‑term planning, aligning financial resources to support desired outcomes.
• For major investments, they steer business case development, ensuring that these investments are financially sustainable under a variety of scenarios.
• They collaborate with Sector Finance to conduct quarterly reviews on business cases, ensuring new businesses meet financial targets.
• They provide a framework and data to steer forecasting and target setting, ensuring realistic and accurate forecasts.
• They develop a strong understanding of opportunities and risks, driving future forecasts and escalating concerns to Finance leadership.
• They ensure the customer is actively engaged in understanding the current landscape of awarded work, driving processes and policy to ensure completeness and consistency.
• They help develop a methodology for long‑term forecasting and coordinate with other business partners to implement it across MITRE.
• They work with customers to develop annual indirect budgets based on strategic priorities and ensuring alignment with the enterprise wrap‑rate strategy.
• They provide regular and recurring management reporting and analysis, including key monthly artifacts such as monthly business reviews.
• They analyze and diagnose business drivers and variances to budget using financial systems.
• They promote lessons learned and prioritize recommendations for leadership actions.
• They communicate financial results effectively with visual narratives, education on financial topics, and concise actions.
• They support business transformation and process reengineering efforts, driving requirements to meet business needs.

Clearance : None. All hired candidates must obtain (or already hold) a security clearance within one year of hire.

Salary Range : $144,500 – $180,500 – $216,500 (Annual)

Work Location Type : Hybrid (≥50% on‑site)
