Position Summary :

The Shelter Lead provides on-site leadership and support for shelter attendants and ensures smooth operations of micro-community and emergency shelter facilities. This role acts as the primary shift supervisor, ensuring staff have the resources needed to provide safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed services to shelter residents. The Shelter Lead communicates directly with the Project Manager and upholds compliance with Bayaud's Shelter Standards and reporting requirements.

Mission of Role / Position Summary :

This role acts as the primary shift supervisor, ensuring staff have the resources needed to provide safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed services to shelter residents. The Shelter Lead communicates directly with the Project Manager and upholds compliance with Bayaud's Shelter Standards and reporting requirements.

General Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities :

• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Shelter Attendants during assigned shifts.
• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding operations, staffing, and safety concerns.
• Observe guest and staff interactions, ensuring respectful, trauma-informed, and equitable practices.
• Provide conflict resolution and de-escalation during guest or staff incidents.
• Conduct unit checks, maintain key distribution, and ensure proper documentation of resident activities.
• Lead welcoming and intake orientation for new residents and assist with discharges.
• Maintain and review daily activity logs, unit notes, and incident reports to ensure accuracy.
• Assign and monitor duties for shelter attendants during each shift.
• Collaborate with service providers, law enforcement, city leadership, and other community partners in a professional manner.
• Ensure facilities are clean, orderly, and prepared for incoming shifts.
• Provide hands-on support with shelter operations, including meal service, guest check-in / out, and cleaning as needed.
• Assist Shelter Attendants with payroll / timekeeping processes in Rippling.
• Host, coach, and train new employees to build a strong, effective team.
• Uphold grievance, security, and emergency procedures in compliance with Bayaud Shelter Standards.
• Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
