Job Summary : Independently performs duties at a swimming pool to protect life, prevent accidents, and assist persons in distress; enforces pool safety regulations; conducts or participates in water safety instructions, swimming instructions, and other recreational aquatic programs; maintains pool and pool area; and performs other related duties as required.

• Maintains constant surveillance of the designated pool and performs tasks to include rescuing swimmers, administering emergency life support measures, and applying immediate First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation as needed;
• Enforces safety regulations and takes corrective action to ensure the safety of patrons;
• Prepares daily log and reports describing accidents, first aid given, drowning or near drowning, and other unusual circumstances;
• Assists and participates in program planning and scheduling, and conducting and coordinating aquatic instructional and recreational activities;
• Maintains water quality standards and keeps a daily record of all information;
• Operates all machinery of the circulation / filtration system;
• Maintains proper chemical standards and makes adjustments as needed;
• Maintains the proper storage and usage of hazardous chemicals, utilizing appropriate safety equipment as required;
• Maintains pool, pool deck, building, locker rooms, spectator areas and walkways, and all surrounding areas to assure a safe healthful environment;
• Attends in-service training classes; and
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications :

Training and Experience : A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school.

License Requirement : Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license, as required (Hawai'i Type 3 or equivalent); and possession of the following valid certifications :

These certificates must be maintained on a current basis thereafter.

Tests : Applicants will be required to qualify on an appropriate examination.

The examination will consist of a qualifying performance evaluation.

Work Shift / Schedule : 7 days / week operation (United States of America)
