Franklin International, a leading manufacturer of adhesives, coatings, and sealants is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer. This position is responsible for providing engineering support, information, and advice directly to all of Franklin International's locations on issues which will impact the environment, regulatory compliance, Process Safety and / or have an impact on operations. Responsibilities include assisting with design of pollution control systems and measures, conducting site assessments and data analysis, preparing reports, and permitting as needed to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and Process Safety Management.
Fundamental Job Tasks :
Providing creative and analytical Environmental Engineering support to aid development and implementation of solutions to environmental challenges. Design, plan, and manage projects that protect public health and the environment by reducing pollution, improving sustainability, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
System Design :
Assist with design, development, and test of systems for pollution control, waste management, water treatment, and air quality.
Data Analysis & Assessment :
Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data and samples (air, water, soil, waste) to identify environmental categories and impacts.
Regulatory Compliance :
Ensure projects and operations comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
Reporting :
Prepare technical reports, impact assessments, and permit applications for all domestic operations.
Project Management :
Assist and as needed manage or oversee environmental projects, including site assessments, remediation activities, and compliance monitoring.
Collaboration :
Work with internal and external resources to develop, implement, and sustain solutions for environmental and Process Safety Management issues.
Informing / Reporting
Advises operating facilities on Safety and Environmental regulations having an impact on operations including installation of equipment, preparation of inventories of pollution sources effected, preparation and coordination of new pollution abatement projects required or preparation of guidelines for new operational procedures required. Prepares and or reviews data for environmental reports to be submitted to regulatory agencies including State Emergency Response Commission reports, Toxic Release inventory, Fee emissions, Quarterly air monitoring, Quarterly wastewater monitoring.

Relationships / Representing
Assists during negotiations with regulatory agencies to establish achievable and timely compliance as needed. Work directly with Process Engineering, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, plant operating personnel, plant management to reach Environmental, Health and Safety objectives.
Collecting Information
Assist with the research of information on regulatory agencies acceptable water and air pollution control measures as well as acceptable waste minimization, management, and remediation measures. Observes all safety and environmental guidelines while handling products, raw materials, and waste.
Cooperating / Acting as Liaison
Provides technical and administrative guidance to the consumer, all Franklin International U.S. facilities on water and air pollution control matters and waste minimization management and remediation matters. Assists all Franklin International U.S. operating facilities in the preparation of wastewater discharge construction and operating permit applications, and HazMat / Waste storage design.
Designing / Problem Solving / Deciding
Develops and implements systems to monitor existing and proposed water pollution, air pollution control and participates in and acts as advisor to production teams formed to address environmental issues within manufacturing. Analyze existing and proposed operating systems and recommend pollution abatement actions to assure compliance with government regulation, including preparation of project documents and justification.
Controlling / Directing / Reviewing
Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental and safety programs which include the management of projects involving independent environmental consultants and contractors.
Conducts investigations to resolve water or air quality problems. Participates as required in regulatory inspections.
Key Accountabilities
Knowledge and Skills :
Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering (or other engineering disciplines such as Mechanical or Electrical with added experience and exposure) from an accredited college or university; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Proficiency with relevant software for data analysis and system design, Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A minimum of three (3) years' industrial experience in environmentally related project areas or applicable experience working at Franklin International in an engineering capacity.
