Job description

Title :

  • CDL Truck Driver Job Type : Full time Location : Durham, NC 27703 (Base) Summary : The CDL Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a company tractor-trailer to transport materials and finished products between our facility and a gamma irradiation sterilization site.
  • This role supports our manufacturing and assembly operations for pharmaceutical and biotech clients by ensuring timely, secure, and compliant delivery and pickup of goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer to deliver and pick up products at the gamma irradiation sterilization facility and other designated locations.
  • Ensure all cargo is properly secured and complies with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect and process necessary paperwork from delivery and pickup sites.
  • Communicate effectively with facility staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any issues.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, and hours of service.
  • Adhere to all DOT, company, and industry safety standards.
  • Maintain tractors and trailers including inspections, upkeep, tires, and overall cleanliness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Desired Education :

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 3 to 5 years of related driving experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    • Desired Skills & Experience :

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Experience operating tractor-trailers and knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
  • Basic computer / data entry skills for recordkeeping.
  • Ability to drive long distances (up to 2–3 hours from company site).
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech supply chain is a plus.

    • Ability to drive 10 to 14 hours from home site Must be able to work weekends Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Regular sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions (e.g., operating vehicle controls).
