UI / UX Developer – Columbia, SC

Dice is the leading career destination for tech experts at every stage of their careers. Our client, Vector Consulting, Inc., is seeking an experienced UI / UX Developer for a 12+ month onsite renewable contract in Columbia, SC.

Overview

The role requires significant development experience with modern UI / UX frameworks and strong backend skills in Python or Java. Candidates should be proficient with NodeJS front-end frameworks like ReactJS or Angular, server-side coding using Python, and an understanding of Python web frameworks such as Django or FastAPI. Experience with SQL reporting, proof of concept development, and cloud platforms (AWS) is an added advantage.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities

Design and document detailed technical designs based on business and functional requirements.
Develop complex UI / UX components using ReactJS / Angular and integrate with Python / Django / FastAPI backends.
Write complex SQL queries and develop SQL / No‑SQL database solutions.
Work with business analysts, subject matter experts, Technical Lead, Quality Manager, and system integrators to meet project goals.
Contribute to a team in an environment where ambiguity is common and deliver high‑quality code with minimal supervision.

Required Skills (Ranked in Order of Importance)

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience with Python, JavaScript / Angular / ReactJS, JSON, REST APIs using Django / FastAPI, and SQL / No‑SQL databases.

Experience delivering in waterfall, Scrum, Agile, and other methodologies.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent problem‑solving ability.

Experience on AWS and troubleshooting software defects.

Medicaid system project experience and knowledge of Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS).

Demonstrated teamwork, collaboration, and ability to self‑motivate.

Preferred Skills (Ranked in Order of Importance)

Knowledge of healthcare insurance principles and processes.

Any UI / UX certification.

Experience on Django or similar Python web frameworks.

Experience with any Rules Engines.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field.
