The Supply Chain Buyer / Planner will manage the supply of goods and help create a more efficient, flexible, and responsive supply chain. The principal objective is to ensure that we have the correct inventory in the correct place at the correct time to service our customers, while optimizing our inventory levels. The successful candidate will be able to problem solve, perform analysis, have a high level understanding of the end to end supply chain processes across the supply chain, is a self-starter and is able to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manages the supply of finished goods sourced from multiple domestic and international vendors with timely and accurate placement of purchase orders or inventory transfers in support of demand plan, forecasts when available, and company initiatives ensuring correct pricing and proper terms and conditions
• Partners with Product Managers to provide end to end supply chain management for a portfolio of strategic vendors
• Understands vendor capacity and capabilities to best manage the flow of product and optimizes our order cycles
• Works with product managers to determine appropriate vendor replenishment strategies to improve on-time delivery and reduce lead times and inventory
• Uses demand history analysis to create POs that optimizes appropriate inventory levels to support the division and company goals
• Develops strong and trusted partnerships with internal customers and participates in regular meetings with the product managers to ensure alignment with purchasing and inventory strategy for vendors
• Supports the launch of new products to meet dates and limit out of stock situations
• Tracks purchase orders and product in transit to meet objectives as well as timely communication of delays / issues
• Coordinates with the Product Managers to identify and execute action plans to manage the life cycle of inventory and achieve targets for turns, on-hand, and aged inventory
• Independent judgement and initiative for problem solving and taking corrective actions as needed; provides process expertise to tactical decisions on a daily basis
• Demonstrates fully-skilled competency in systems and functionality; accurately maintains all relevant master data and vendor fact sheets
• Develops ad-hoc reports utilizing ERP and supplier portals to manage exceptions
• Assists the Product Managers with reviewing vendor delivery and quality performance to drive continuous improvements
• Performs as a good team player through showing mutual respect and creating positive morale, sharing knowledge, demonstrating a willingness to learn, be a willing back-up, actively participates in meetings, identifies continuous improvements, uses diplomacy and tact, and treats others with respect and dignity
