Job Summary : The Associate Director of Risk Management is responsible for assessing the property and casualty exposures of high-net-worth clients, reviewing current coverage, and designing and implementing coverage changes in conjunction with our client's broker to mitigate these risks. This role requires extensive interaction with high-net-worth clients, insurance brokers, third-party vendors, and internal team members to ensure optimal coverage and service. The Associate Director is responsible for maintaining a deep understanding of high-net-worth insurance markets and underwriting positions and cultivating relationships with key carrier personnel.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Client Assessment and Program Design : Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of high-net-worth clients' property and casualty exposures. Review current insurance program to identify areas of improvement in coverage and / or pricing to better address identified risks. Remarket risks with broker assistance as necessary to ensure optimal coverage and terms.
  • Client Interaction : Develop and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and trust. Serve as the client's primary point of contact, addressing their insurance needs and concerns promptly and effectively. Function as a claim liaison, advising clients on potential impact to coverage and rates should one be filed, and advocating for the best possible claims outcome. Produce new client and renewal reports highlighting program recommendations. Attend annual client meetings to address or identify changes in exposure. Provide expert guidance and serve as a resource for clients on various insurance and risk management matters as they arise.
  • Collaboration with Brokers and Carriers : Maintain productive relationships and collaborate with insurance brokers to negotiate and secure the best possible terms and coverage for clients. Cultivate productive relationships with key carrier personnel. Work closely with insurance brokers and carriers to understand product offerings to ensure they align with client needs. Manage key broker relationships, including non-risk management client referrals, ensuring quality service is provided. Coordinate educational meetings with brokers on a quarterly basis.
  • Team and Department : Assist Director with mentoring and developing team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Foster an environment where colleagues are treated as clients with respect and professional communication. Lead risk management team meetings once per month.

Qualifications / Experience : Extensive knowledge of the personal insurance space, specifically related to high-net-worth clients. In-depth understanding of high-net-worth insurance carriers and their underwriting positions. Proven experience in assessing property and casualty exposures and designing appropriate insurance programs. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth clients, brokers, carriers, and internal colleagues. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. A commitment to providing exceptional client service and enhancing the client experience. Experience with agency management software. Commercial insurance experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in risk management, business, or finance, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree or an equivalent designation (e.g., CPCU, ARM, etc.). Minimum of ten years' experience working within a high-net-worth insurance brokerage or carrier.

Pay Transparency : Pathstone's expected starting base compensation range for the position as of the time of this posting is $100,000 - $130,000 per year. The actual base compensation selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) experience, education, specialty and training. The successful candidate(s) may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus award.
