Key Account Manager

The Wellness Pet Company crafts and produces premium pet food, treats, dental chews, and supplements. Team Wellie is seeking a Key Account Manager based in Chicago, IL to join our Independent Channel Sales Team. This dynamic, highly visible role is responsible for building and executing a growth plan that executes the company strategy. This role will have particular emphasis on growing small and mid-size independent pet and farm store chains. This position is ideally suited for an individual who has excellent customer development skills, a strong analytical background, excellent verbal & written communication skills, and accountability for results.

What You'll Accomplish :

  • Establish and maintain good business relationships with accounts
  • Develop and manage a business forecast which aligns to goals
  • Manage trade funds, including ROI analyses
  • Analyze and understand the critical drivers impacting the business and develop strategies and tactics that capitalize on these drivers
  • Understand and utilize all key measurements available to manage the business pace
  • Execution of account-specific marketing initiatives
  • Create and implement new item launch plans
  • Deliver thought leadership within the account to establish Wellness Pet as THE category resource
  • Identify and develop strong working relationships with cross functional team members
  • Champion business needs for assigned accounts
  • Demonstrate clear ownership, leadership, and accountability
  • Communicate crucial market, trade, and competitive information on a timely basis
  • Spend approximately 60% of their time in the field.
  • Live the Wellness Pet Culture and Values, doing whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us

  • In addition, we are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications :

  • MS Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience analyzing your assigned business and demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision making
  • Independent and self-driven with great time management skills
  • Effective control of process and projects; detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to analyze the business across key sales fundamentals of assortment, merchandising, pricing, and shelving, turn this analysis into sales plans, and execute these plans with excellence
  • Experience in promotional planning and trade spend management
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly analytical with a proven ability and understanding of Key Performance Indicators
  • Customer focused with high standards of integrity
  • Energized by a fast paced and high change environment
  • Proven success and progression within the sales function in the CPG industry
  • Gives back to the community
