Principal Duties

Under the direction of a Mail or Property Manager (Warehouse Manager), the Mail & Property Specialist ensures effective operations of a UDC central prison mail or property operation. This includes effective receiving, inspecting, sorting, storing, retrieving, staging and delivering mail or property items. These activities occur at the mail and property warehouse and while delivering mail or property to all prison areas. Following OSHA workplace safety regulations, laws, requirements and practices is mandatory. Adherence to all established correctional mail and property service standards, policies and procedures is required. Strict adherence to prison safety and security guidelines, policies and practices while working in and around a correctional institution environment is required.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position has the following : High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Clean driving history / record. Mail, property, or general office related work experience and training is preferred but not required. Previous part time or full time work experience at any employer is preferred. Working knowledge of common computer / office equipment and software is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
