Job Summary The Employment Specialist will work with unstably housed individuals ages 18–24 to help them gain job readiness skills, stabilize housing, and obtain employment. The Employment Specialist will conduct assessments, provide job training workshops, and assist young adults with internship placements, job placement, job retention, and wage progression. Additional duties include maintaining records of client progress, completing reports on demographics and program outcomes, making housing referrals, and collaborating with the YMCA's Housing Programs, employers to develop job opportunities, and ensuring clients meet workplace expectations. The role also involves co-enrollment with eligible young adults and working with staff to support clients in achieving success on the job. This position is at the Social Impact Center Y, the social services branch of YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS). The Social Impact Center Y accelerates young people's ability to build safe, successful, and happy lives, serving 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families across King County with programs across housing, behavioral health, foster care licensing, violence prevention, education, and employment. Many of the young people served have involvement with foster care, the criminal justice system, or homelessness systems.

Hiring Range : $24.00 - $27.00 / hour
Responsibilities
Provides specialized services to youth and young adults in education, employment / career development, housing, technology, or other designated field and supports them in achieving their goals. Build strong relationships with program participants to effectively provide quality services.Develops individualized, strengths-based, youth-driven service plans.Understand contract and grant terms to ensure program outcomes are met and services are rendered appropriately to young adults.Researches best practices in the field; creates and maintains a specialized resource library.Maintains clear, professional, timely participant contact notes, service plans, progress updates, outcomes, and other documentation in designated databases.Teaches life skills, job readiness, or other subject matter individually and / or in groups, often through experiential learning.Teams effectively and collaboratively with YMCA staff and / or community partners to plan and facilitate activities, including visits to related resources in the community.Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with funding liaisons, other service providers, businesses, and / or educational institutions related to specialized services.Supports participant success in key domains such as safe and stable housing, permanent connections to supportive adults, education and employment, health and well-being, and life skills.May assist with program coordination or other job-focused activities.Participates in the YMCA annual fundraising campaign to engage community members in volunteerism and philanthropic support for the Y mission.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field, or equivalent experience; masters preferred. Other applicable education / experience will be considered to perform effectively.Experience working with teens or young adults in employment, foster care, housing, education, juvenile justice, anti-poverty, vocational support, mental health, chemical dependency, or homelessness fields.Ability to teach independence skills for a variety of learning styles and to plan supportive activities.Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Ability to transport self and clients to community locations; valid vehicle insurance or ability to travel where public transportation is limited.Current state-approved First Aid and CPR certification. Current approved HIV bloodborne pathogens training.Preference for knowledge of and experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, disability, sexual orientation, etc.).
