Job description

We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Application Designer to join our team and support the development and maintenance of batch business applications. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in C programming, SQL integration, and Linux environments, who enjoy solving technical challenges and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

WORKSITE : Remote

WORK SCHEDULE : Monday-Friday, 8-5 EST

PAY RATE : $45-$47 per hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

Modify and enhance moderately complex batch business applications using the C programming language
Design and implement SQL queries embedded in C, working with Oracle databases
Develop and maintain shell scripts in a Linux environment
Interface with RESTful APIs using CURL and JSON
Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
Use Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs for debugging and development
Manage version control using Git or equivalent tools
Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and testing plans
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support client-facing initiatives
Contribute to regression testing strategies and ensure application stability

WHAT YOU'LL BRING :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or equivalent work experience

5+ years of experience in C programming for batch applications

5+ years of experience with SQL, preferably embedded in C and using Oracle databases

5+ years of experience working in Linux environments

Proficiency in shell scripting and RESTful interfacing using CURL

Familiarity with JSON and modern data exchange formats

Working knowledge of SDLC principles and best practices

Experience with IDEs and debugging tools (e.g., Visual Studio Code)

Hands-on experience with Git or other version control systems

Ability to produce and maintain clear technical documentation

Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Experience developing and executing regression testing strategies (preferred)

Solid problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
