The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, which include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
Responsibilities
This individual will work closely with our CFO to direct the firm’s accounting functions such as maintaining the firm’s accounting principles, practices, procedures and initiatives, and oversee tax filings in the relevant jurisdictions and preparation of the partnership K-1s.
The ideal candidate should have a high degree of integrity and professionalism, and significant leadership skills.
Successful candidates will have demonstrable :
- Hands-on experience in oversight and execution of all accounting functions including financial reporting, corporate accounting, unitholder activities / transactions, monthly G / L closing, bank reconciliations, cash management, and coordinating annual audit reporting
- track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment;
- high level of business acumen, including successful P&L management and the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget;
problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness
- tax compliance efforts for management company entities, including oversight of K-1 prepared by tax advisors and maintaining Transfer Pricing documentation, ensuring adherence to relevant tax laws
- Prior success in upgrading the quality of an organization’s financial infrastructure by improving reporting, cost control, and accounting / budgeting systems
- Manage team members, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Ability to ensure that appropriate accounting policies and procedures consistently adopted throughout the Firm
- of the timely issuance of financial statements including monthly reporting and annual audited financial statements
- strong business-orientated approach to opportunities and challenges
- Interface with senior leaders, auditors and tax advisors
- with internal and external teams to support key company initiatives
- with internal and external technology support partners to drive efficient processing of financial data and systems
- to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the Firm’s long-term strategic plan
This position will be based in Matthews’ San Francisco headquarters in a hybrid working environment with at least 60% time spent in the office
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working in public accounting and / or industry is required
- degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters degree and / or CPA preferred
- background in GAAP, partnership accounting, and IFRS
- partnership tax preferred
- reporting experience with progressive experience in financial close operations
- communicator who has the ability to explain, influence, guide and motivate
- managerial skills to manage a team as well as working with senior level executives
- managing, improving and automating workflow process within an accounting department
- ability to utilize superior analytical and critical thinking skills
