Job Description
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for field supervision of subcontractors, coordination of trades, construction conflict resolution, inspector relations and inspections and quality control. Must be hands-on, organized, strategic, focused, and skilled as a Construction Superintendent with good communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to be highly organized, lead subcontractors, and communicate in a professional manner with Pentoir Inc. staff, owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors is integral to this position.
Responsibilities
- Enforce and promote safe construction practices, always ensuring jobsite safety.
- Supervise all operations and activities on the jobsite, ensuring work is performed efficiently and effectively.
- Monitor work in progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
- Inspect work in place for compliance with plans, specifications, and local building codes.
- Prepare daily jobsite activity and progress reports to track project milestones and address any issues.
- Schedule all trades and develop 2-week look-ahead schedules to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Confirm the project will meet its scheduled completion date through weekly schedule updates.
- Communicate effectively via telephone to schedule work and resolve problems promptly.
- Coordinate subcontractor workforces in the proper sequence to maintain the overall project schedule.
- Manage interactions with owners, subcontractors, and subordinates in a manner that promotes professionalism and aligns with company values.
- Maintain and organize onsite contract documents, including permits, revisions, and safety records, ensuring all required documents are collected and up to date.
- Assist subcontractors and material suppliers as needed to complete their scope of work successfully.
- Must demand excellence of finish details from all trades on project
- Willingness and ability to work with construction tools and equipment as necessary
- Attend weekly progress meetings with the VP of Operations to provide updates, discuss challenges, and propose solutions.
- Always exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor, whether on the job site or in the office.
Qualifications
High school diploma with 5 years’ experience as a tradesman in Structural or MEP disciplines, or a college degree in construction management or engineering and appropriate project experienceMinimum skill levels include technical expertise in plan reading, concrete and masonry systems, structural modification, demolition, and carpentryExperience with use of Construction Management Software.Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline.Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.OSHA CertificationFirst Aid Certification
