Duties :
Under the supervision of a nurse leader (CNO, Clinical Director, Supervisor, or Nurse Leader), independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients. Performs the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and the California Nurse Practice Act.
Creates and sustains an environment that supports compassionate, holistic care, fostering healing through trust and connection with patients and families.Collects and documents patient data using prescribed methods.Interprets assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risk factors; records and reports variances from normal parameters.Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans; safely implements nursing and physician orders.Prioritizes nursing actions using clinical judgment, experience, and assessment findings.Establishes nursing diagnoses, formulates written care plans, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions, revising plans as needed.Anticipates and manages rapidly changing patient conditions, initiating emergency protocols as appropriate.Performs and documents the nursing process using critical thinking and adherence to hospital policies.Coordinates care with nurses, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).Demonstrates effective teamwork and collaboration within the care team.Ensures quality of care through adherence to therapeutic standards, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements.Provides safe care by following infection control policies, medication administration guidelines, and controlled substance regulations.Participates in staff meetings, governance councils, and professional development activities.Completes all mandatory competencies, education, and training as required by the Department of Nursing.Maintains current knowledge and competence reflecting best nursing practices.Adheres to RN scope of practice and all hospital-approved policies.Complies with ANA Code of Ethics, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and KMC Professional Practice Model.Monitors own and others’ practices to ensure patient and employee safety and compliance with policies.Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of populations served by Kern Medical facilities.Skills & Requirements :
Required :
Minimum 3 years of experience .Valid and unrestricted State of California Registered Nurse (RN) License .Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider certifications :Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Must meet all health requirements designated by Kern Medical Center.Depending on assignment, additional certificates of competency may be required as a condition of employment.
Knowledge Requirements :
Advanced theory, techniques, and practices of nursing.Medical terminology, instruments, and equipment.Proper use and effects of medicines and narcotics.Skills & Requirements :
Required :
Minimum 3 years of experience.
Valid and unrestricted State of California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
