Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer II - Software Quality Assurance to join our team at Collins Aerospace. As a Software Quality and Process Assurance Engineer, you will support the development of embedded software by ensuring compliance with industry, contractual, and regulatory standards.
You will work alongside cross-functional teams to monitor engineering processes, identify risks, and contribute to process improvements that ensure the safety and reliability of mission-critical products. You'll gain hands-on experience with programs for major customers like the U.S. Armed Forces, Boeing, Airbus, and Lockheed Martin, with growth opportunities into hardware and systems oversight as your career progresses.
Responsibilities
- Support the Software Quality / Process Assurance function on a multidisciplinary Product Development Team under the guidance of senior leads.
- Assist in reviewing Engineering Development Plans to ensure alignment with applicable contractual, industry, and internal standards.
- Participate in audits and process reviews to monitor compliance with Engineering Development Plans and organizational processes.
- Review engineering documentation (e.g., design specs, test plans) for conformance to internal standards and customer requirements.
- Contribute to internal, customer, and regulatory reviews (e.g., milestone reviews, audits) by preparing documentation and addressing quality-related queries.
- Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and assist in implementing process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with and learn from senior engineers; contribute to team knowledge sharing and process consistency.
Qualifications
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with key industry standards supporting safety-critical aerospace systems, with hands-on experience applying DO-178C for embedded software compliance; exposure to DO-254 and ARP4754 in cross-functional development environments.Practical experience supporting Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, using structured problem-solving tools to identify issues and contribute to corrective / preventive actions.Working knowledge of Engineering Configuration Management tools such as SVN, Synergy, and DOORS, with a solid understanding of their role in requirements traceability and lifecycle management.Basic understanding of AS9100 / AS9115 Quality Management Systems, with experience supporting compliance activities within the aerospace development lifecycle.What We Offer
