Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2 years of PICU experience, Idaho or compact RN license, and BLS / PALS certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with 12 bedsNurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 2Typical patient population includes trach / vent, DKA, respiratory, surgical, and seizure cases, with no cardiac patientsNurses are required to titrate drips such as propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrineRNs operate ventilators, bubble CPAP, and BiPAP, and must interpret their own cardiac monitoring stripsUses Epic EMR system with Alaris pump equipmentShifts are 12 hours, 7a-7p, with schedule flexibility as neededWeekend requirement is 5 shifts in a 6-week periodFrequent floating required to Peds, NICU, and sitter assignmentsNo call or standby requirementTwo 12-hour orientation shifts providedPermanent former employees must have been separated for at least one year before applying for a travel assignmentHoliday shift coverage is expected for at least one major holiday per contractAny color scrubs are permittedNo patient care techs on the unit; RN team supported by charge nurses who do not take an assignment during their shiftFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNo blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be acceptedRequirements
Active ID or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent PICU experience requiredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredCurrent BLS and PALS certifications requiredExperience with EVDs and trach / vent management requiredExperience with Epic EMR and Alaris pumps preferredAbility to interpret cardiac monitoring strips requiredMust live outside a 50-mile radius from the facilityCopy of driver’s license requiredTwo professional references, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years, requiredBenefits
