Hardware Development Engineer Level 3

Our client, a global leader in design and manufacturing industrial controls, is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to join their team. As a Hardware Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Development and Testing Team supporting Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with evaluating reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and developing electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, and / or optical systems.

Job Title : Hardware Development Engineer (EE)

Location : Milwaukee, WI

Pay : $40-$45 / hr plus OT, benefits

Key Responsibilities

What is the product that the digital circuit design is for? Products with ARM based processors, FPGAs

Are they doing integrated or printed circuit design? Printed circuit design

What type of electronic testing would they be doing? Printed circuit level, i.e., power supply rails, ripple, voltage levels, timing of IC and signal inputs / outputs, rise / fall times, frequency. Functional level, EMC, environmental testing

How much of the job would they be doing design vs testing? 50 / 50, there is also documentation, such as writing design specifications for the product, reviewing component datasheets, writing test plans, choosing new components due to obsolescence, etc.

Requirements

What kind of test equipment would they be using? Oscilloscopes (Keysight), multimeters (Fluke), probes, JTAG interface, helpful to understand EMC equipment for conducted immunity / emissions, electrostatic discharge, radiated emissions / immunity, shock and vibration, thermal chambers, etc.

Do they need a specific type of circuit design tool experience? Preferred Mentor Graphics Xpedition but Altium or others is beneficial
