Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg / Tele float position in NY requiring a valid NY RN license, NIHSS, and strong tele interpretation skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work at a 90-bed community hospital in a Med Surg / Tele setting
  • Float to various Med Surg / Tele units as required
  • Patient ratio is typically 1 RN to 6-7 patients
  • Night shift schedule from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM
  • Must work every other weekend and holiday
  • Uses Paragon EMR; previous experience preferred but not required
  • Must be able to perform IV starts as there is no IV team
  • Proctored EKG exam required on Day 1 of contract
  • Must be willing to float between units as needed
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts during the assignment
  • First-time travelers will be considered

  • Active New York State RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years Med Surg / Tele experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification and 6 CEUs on stroke-related topics required prior to start
  • Ability to interpret telemetry strips independently
  • IV start experience required
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • COVID vaccination is not required but documentation of vaccination or declination must be provided
