Great Western Trailer (GWT) is seeking skilled Semi-Trailer Mechanic Technicians to join our team in Houston TX. As part of our Service Team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of semi-trailers while providing top-notch maintenance and repairs for our valued customers.

Responsibilities :

Perform thorough inspections and maintenance / repairs to meet Department of Transportation regulations.

Perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications on dry van and reefer trailers.

This includes addressing structural issues, repairing body panels, and ensuring overall safety and functionality of the trailers.

Familiarity with welding, frame straightening, and corrosion prevention is essential.

Weld aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon components with precision.

Inspect and service air brake systems, including lines, couplers, tanks, valves, shoes, drums, pads, and rotors.

Evaluate and service low voltage wiring, couplers, harnesses, lights, batteries, and charging systems.

Assess body and chassis components for damage or defects; perform metal and wood carpentry tasks as needed.

Operate, lubricate, and repair lift gate assemblies and other mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Physical Demands :

Must be able to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and crawl as needed.

Capable of lifting and / or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Comfortable working in tight spaces such as tanks.

Strong visual acuity and ability to operate various equipment.

Work Environment :

Work near moving mechanical parts, in high places, and with potentially hazardous chemicals.

Exposure to fumes or airborne particles is common.

Noise levels can vary from moderate to loud.

Adaptability to extremes in temperature and environmental conditions.

Work may occur in shop, yard, or mobile service vehicle settings.
